Philadelphia Man Sentenced to Over 35 Years for Child Sexual Abuse and Pornography

PHILADELPHIA – Joshua Lang, 37, a man from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to an astonishing 430 months in prison for his role in extensive child sexual exploitation and child pornography offenses. United States Attorney David Metcalf announced the sentence, which also includes lifetime supervised release. Lang was ordered to pay $23,545 in restitution and $14,300 in special assessments.

The investigation into Lang’s heinous activities began when the Philadelphia Police Department Special Victims Unit (PPD SVU) traced his purchase of child pornography from a 13-year-old girl on Instagram. The discovery led to a search warrant at Lang’s residence, revealing that Lang and his partner, Kenneth Miller, had engaged in hands-on sexual abuse of children, as well as manufacturing, trading, and collecting explicit images of the minors.

Both men were arrested on July 19, 2023, charged with numerous offenses, and remained in Philadelphia County custody until federal charges were filed. Lang faced a 16-count indictment, including conspiracy to manufacture child pornography, and was sentenced today by United States District Judge Timothy J. Savage.

The investigation revealed that over three years, Lang and Miller sexually abused a minor and recorded the acts. They also installed hidden cameras in their home to produce explicit images of at least five children. Lang himself engaged in sexual abuse of another minor and shared videos with Miller. The defendants’ collection included more than 13,000 files of child sexual abuse material.

U.S. Attorney Metcalf termed the crimes “stomach-turning,” emphasizing that today’s sentence ensures Lang will remain behind bars where he belongs. The community is safer for this decisive action against these predators.
