Pikerson Mentor, Murder, Florida 2010

MIAMI, FL – In a gruesome crime that shook the community, Pikerson Mentor, 30, of Miami, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the December 2010 murder of U.S. Postal Service employee Bruce Parton.

According to court documents, Mentor was convicted of all 14 counts of the Second Superseding Indictment, including murder of a federal government employee, car-jacking, theft of a key for a U.S. Postal Service mail receptacle, and aggravated identity theft. His accomplice, Saubnet Politesse, 24, was sentenced to 21 years imprisonment for being Mentor’s getaway driver during the robbery.

The murder took place on December 6, 2010, as Parton delivered mail to the Monte Carlo apartment complex in northwest Miami. Mentor and his accomplices allegedly used the stolen mail to commit identity theft.

U.S. Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer stated, ‘The sentences imposed today on the defendants for the ruthless murder of Bruce Parton, a hard-working and dedicated mail carrier, should send a clear message to our community: there are lifelong consequences to senseless acts of violence.’

Antonio J. Gomez, Acting Inspector in Charge for U.S. Postal Inspection Service, added, ‘Today’s sentencing is the result of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service working diligently with law enforcement partners to make sure that U.S. Postal Service employees are protected.’

The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, IRS-CI, Miami-Dade Police Department, and North Miami Police Department. The U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case.

The sentencing of Pikerson Mentor and Saubnet Politesse brings closure to the Parton family, who have been seeking justice for their loved one’s tragic death.

The community is left to grapple with the senseless violence that took the life of a dedicated public servant, and the lengthy sentences imposed on the perpetrators serve as a reminder of the consequences of such crimes.
