PITTSBURGH – The grimy streets of Pittsburgh were hit with a hard punch as Trevon Kendrick, 28, from Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, was sentenced today to 13 years’ imprisonment for his role in orchestrating a massive heroin pipeline from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung announced the sentence, which also includes 5 years of supervised release.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had been on Kendrick’s trail since 2018 when they uncovered his drug trafficking organization operating throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. The investigation led to a Title III wiretap that revealed Kendrick was the mastermind behind the illegal distribution network, directing shipments of heroin from Philly to his criminal empire.
Between February and September 2019, the FBI gathered substantial evidence, including intercepted communications where Kendrick was overheard orchestrating the movements of drugs. Law enforcement also seized heroine, firearms, and a significant amount of cash from Kendrick and his associates. U.S. District Judge William S. Stickman IV acknowledged the severity of Kendrick’s offense and his previous criminal history in imposing the sentence.
Assistant United States Attorney Mark V. Gurzo led the prosecution against Kendrick on behalf of the government. Chung also commended a host of law enforcement agencies, including FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, the Allegheny County Police Department, and others, for their relentless efforts in bringing Kendrick to justice.
This crackdown is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation that identifies and dismantles high-level drug traffickers across the nation. OCDETF’s multi-agency approach has proven effective in targeting criminal networks like Kendrick’s, ensuring safer communities for all.
