George Allen, a 32-year-old Pittsburgh resident, has pleaded guilty to throwing a piece of concrete at a Pittsburgh police vehicle during a protest on May 30, 2020.
According to the guilty plea, Allen knowingly and willfully threw the concrete, breaking a passenger window and striking an officer, resulting in minor bruising.
Allen’s actions caused the obstruction, impediment, and interference of law enforcement officers engaged in the lawful performance of their official duties.
The incident occurred during a civil disorder, and Allen’s actions were in clear defiance of the law.
Allen is scheduled to be sentenced on November 10, 2021, and faces a maximum sentence of not more than five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.
The Federal Sentencing Guidelines will determine the actual sentence, taking into account the seriousness of the offense and Allen’s prior criminal history.
The case was investigated by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan D. Lusty prosecuting on behalf of the government.
