A former Pleasantville, PA resident, Scott A. Anthony, has been handed a harsh sentence for his role in a heinous crime.
On Thursday, Senior United States District Judge David S. Cercone sentenced Anthony, 50, to 16 years in jail, 5 years supervised release, and ordered him to pay $30,162.96 in restitution on his conviction of violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children.
The case against Anthony was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
According to information presented to the court, Anthony produced sexually explicit videos depicting two minors. The shocking videos were recorded by Anthony surreptitiously, without the knowledge of the two minor victims, while they were using a bathroom.
Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold prosecuted this case on behalf of the government. Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Millcreek Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Anthony.
“Anthony’s conduct was extremely disturbing and occurred over a lengthy period,” Judge Cercone noted before imposing sentence.
Anthony’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the severity of child pornography crimes and the importance of continued efforts to combat this growing epidemic.
