A Portsmouth teenager has been cleared of murder charges after a video alibi proved his innocence. The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with the murder of another teen in Portsmouth, Virginia on March 10, 2024.
The defendant was accused of shooting and killing a 16-year-old boy in a residential area of Portsmouth. However, a video obtained by investigators showed the defendant at a different location at the time of the murder.
The Portsmouth Police Department released a statement saying that the video evidence cleared the defendant’s name and he has been released from custody.
The case has been closed and no further action will be taken against the defendant. The Portsmouth Police Department thanked the community for their cooperation and understanding in this matter.
