A major blow to the illegal drug trade in middle Georgia has been dealt with the sentencing of 13 defendants in Operation Breaking the Bond, a complex investigation into a cocaine trafficking conspiracy.
The operation, led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia, targeted a network of drug traffickers in the Bibb County area and resulted in the seizure of large quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, oxycodone, and marijuana, as well as nearly $97,000 in cash and 39 illegally possessed firearms.
The lead defendant, Prentice Bond, 36, of Macon, was sentenced to 180 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute and to Distribute Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, and Marijuana, and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime.
Another defendant, Tommie Lanardo Holloway, 36, of Kathleen, was sentenced to 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to Perjury for lying during a hearing in District Court about the ownership of four firearms found in Bond’s residence.
The investigation, which began in mid-2019, resulted in the indictment of eight men and four women in February 2021. All 12 defendants entered guilty pleas to felony charges related to the conspiracy, and a 13th defendant was sentenced for perjury related to the case.
