Queens resident PHILLIP STEWART, 46, pleaded guilty yesterday in New Haven federal court to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute MDA and MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.
According to United States Attorney Deirdre M. Daly for the District of Connecticut, Stewart conspired with Collin Fletcher and others to sell large quantities of ecstasy across multiple states, including Connecticut and New York. On October 27, 2016, and November 1, 2016, investigators conducted two controlled purchases from Fletcher, a citizen of Jamaica.
STEWART and Fletcher were apprehended on November 18, 2016, following their attempt to sell around 10,000 ecstasy capsules containing nearly 923 grams of MDA to an undercover officer. Stewart is set to be sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall on June 30, 2017, with a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison. Currently released on a $100,000 bond, he faces significant time behind bars.
Collin Fletcher, also from Jamaica, pleaded guilty to the same charge on February 14, 2017, and remains detained pending sentencing.
The Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Haven Tactical Diversion Squad, comprising officers from various Connecticut law enforcement agencies, is investigating this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Avi Perry is handling the prosecution.
