Quintana-Garcia, Violent Crime, Illinois 2013

On March 19, 2013, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (ILND Federal District) filed a case against 35-year-old Pablo Antonio Quintana-Garcia, a Chicago resident, for his alleged involvement in a violent crime.

According to court documents, Quintana-Garcia was charged with one count of interstate domestic violence, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2261A(2)(A), and one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(8).

The charges stemmed from an incident on January 1, 2012, where Quintana-Garcia allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend, causing her physical harm. The victim, who had a restraining order against Quintana-Garcia, reported the incident to the authorities. Upon investigation, it was discovered that Quintana-Garcia possessed a firearm despite being prohibited from doing so.

The case, which was assigned to U.S. District Judge Ruben Castillo, continued to unfold over the next few years. While a specific date of conviction is not publicly available, it is reported that in 2014, Quintana-Garcia pleaded guilty to both counts. He was subsequently sentenced to 48 months in prison, followed by a three-year term of supervised release.

The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Diane L. Hugo, who argued that Quintana-Garcia’s actions posed a significant threat to the victim’s safety and well-being. The defense team, led by attorney Mark J. Modica, countered that Quintana-Garcia’s behavior was a result of his own personal issues and not a deliberate attempt to harm the victim.
