Rachel Naomi Hernandez, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Texas 2020

A Marshall, Texas woman has been sentenced to federal prison for her role in a methamphetamine trafficking organization.

Rachel Naomi Hernandez, 32, was sentenced to 135 months in federal prison on September 23, 2020 by U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap, following her guilty plea to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Hernandez was arrested on May 20, 2018 after a traffic stop, during which she admitted to possessing a firearm. A subsequent search of her vehicle revealed 270 grams of methamphetamine, a pistol, various pills, vials containing suspected PCP, digital scales, and $4,762 in U.S. Currency.

Hernandez was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 18, 2019 and charged with violations of federal drug trafficking and firearms laws.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Texas Department of Public Safety; the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office; and the Marshall Police Department as part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). OCDETF is the largest anti-crime task force in the country, working to disrupt and dismantle the most significant drug trafficking and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the United States.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lucas Machicek.

Ganjei. ‘We are dedicated to dismantling these organizations and disrupting every link in their chain of supply.’
