A brazen plot to rob a marijuana dealer in Radford, Virginia, ended in chaos and federal prison time for three men. On April 17, 2025, Trevion Trevor Johnson, Dominick Latrell Anderson, and Sidney Elijah Schwartz targeted Robert Jason Leonard Jr., a local marijuana dealer, with the intention of stealing his supply. The would-be robbers, all from the Roanoke area, used an alias to set up a transaction with Leonard, but things took a deadly turn when Johnson brandished a 9mm pistol and a physical altercation ensued.
The confrontation resulted in Johnson shooting Leonard in the buttocks, while Leonard’s wife was also threatened with the firearm. As the robbers fled, Leonard fired multiple rounds at them, striking Schwartz in the back. The trio dropped Schwartz off at a hospital and divided the stolen marijuana among themselves.
The aftermath of the robbery led to the arrest and sentencing of all parties involved. Johnson received 108 months in federal prison, while Anderson was sentenced to 96 months. Schwartz received a 48-month sentence, and Leonard, the targeted marijuana dealer, was sentenced to 36 months.
The sentences were handed down in U.S. District Court, marking a conclusion to the violent and dramatic events that unfolded in Radford. The case highlights the dangers of the illicit marijuana trade and the willingness of some individuals to resort to violence to achieve their goals.
