In the rain-soaked streets of Seattle, a string of minor crimes has left residents wary. On November 12, 1891, a notice in the local newspaper caught the attention of Seattle residents. HYAMS PAUSON CO, a prominent clothing importer, placed an advertisement touting the benefits of their Mackintoshes and Ulster overcoats. The clothing, they claimed, provided ‘safe shelter’ for those who wore them, citing their high quality, comfortable fit, and ability to keep the wearer warm and dry.
