Cedar County Man Convicted of Shooting Neighbor’s House
A Cedar County man has been convicted of shooting his neighbor’s house numerous times, resulting in dozens of bullet impacts to the property.
Randolph High, age 62, from Stanwood, Iowa, was convicted of being a felon in possession of ammunition in federal court in Cedar Rapids. The crime occurred on January 27, 2019, when High shot his neighbor’s house, cars, and a camper.
High admitted to the crime in a plea agreement and faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and 3 years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime through a broad spectrum of stakeholders working together to identify and address the most pressing violent crime problems in the community.
High is currently in the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing and will appear before United States District Court Judge CJ Williams.
