Rapist Contreras-Nolasco Admits Illegal Return to U.S.

GREENBELT, MD – Dimas Gonzalo Contreras-Nolasco, 54, a Mexican national with a history of violent crime, has admitted to illegally slipping back into the United States after being deported. The guilty plea comes as Contreras-Nolasco is already serving a 20-year sentence for a horrific rape committed in Montgomery County, Maryland.

U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes and Acting Field Office Director Nikita Baker of ICE-ERO announced the plea deal, a small victory in a nation grappling with porous borders and repeat offenders. Court documents reveal Contreras-Nolasco first attempted to enter the U.S. on September 18, 2005, at the Del Rio, Texas border crossing. He brazenly claimed U.S. citizenship without providing any supporting documentation. Border Patrol quickly saw through the lie, initiating expedited removal proceedings and sending him back to Mexico.

But Contreras-Nolasco wasn’t deterred. On September 9, 2021, he was apprehended again, this time in Rockville, Maryland, after allegedly committing a brutal rape. The subsequent Montgomery County Circuit Court proceedings saw him plead guilty to second-degree rape and a related sex offense on March 31, 2022. He received a 20-year sentence, with 10 years suspended – a lenient outcome given the gravity of the crime.

Now, on top of his state sentence, Contreras-Nolasco faces up to two years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, and one year of supervised release for the illegal reentry charge. Crucially, he failed to secure permission from either the Attorney General or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for readmission – a clear violation of federal law. Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, November 14, at 1 p.m.

Hayes praised the work of ICE-ERO in pursuing this case, highlighting the agency’s dedication to tracking down and removing individuals who pose a threat to public safety. Assistant U.S. Attorney LaShanta Harris is prosecuting the case, aiming to hold Contreras-Nolasco accountable for his repeated disregard for U.S. law.

This prosecution is part of “Operation Take Back America,” a broad Department of Justice initiative focused on combating illegal immigration, dismantling criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime. While the operation’s rhetoric is strong, the reality on the streets remains a constant battle against those who exploit the system and prey on vulnerable citizens.
