Rashad Arnsworth, Successful Completion of Federal Reentry Program, Alaska 2024

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Rashad Arnsworth, 38, has completed the 18-month long federal reentry program known as Alaska Hope Court, officials announced today. Arnsworth’s graduation from the program marks a significant milestone in his journey towards rehabilitation.

The Hope Court was established in May 2015 through an order of the District Court of Alaska. The program is a collaborative effort between the United States Attorney’s Office, the United States District Court, the Office of the Federal Defender, and the United States Probation Office.

Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Deborah M. Smith, presiding judge of the court, praised the community partners who have provided invaluable assistance to the Hope Court participants. These partners include Partners for Progress, Partners Reentry Center, Cook Inlet Tribal Council, Alaska Native Justice Center, and the Alaska Wellness Court Alumni Group.

Arnsworth met the demanding graduation requirements of Hope Court, which include completing Moral Reconation Therapy, obtaining stable housing and employment, successfully completing substance abuse treatment and counseling, completing a volunteer project, and maintaining sobriety.

As a result of his successful graduation, the Hope Court team recommended a 15-month reduction in Arnsworth’s period of supervised release, which was accepted by U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason.

Rashad Arnsworth, a resident of Anchorage, was recently hired as a peer counselor with Cook Inlet Tribal Council. His dedication to giving back to the community is a testament to his commitment to his rehabilitation and a positive influence on his peers.

Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Deborah M. Smith noted that Arnsworth has ‘quietly set an example for others and always been willing to assist other court participants.’ His graduation from the Hope Court program is a beacon of hope for those struggling with addiction and crime in Alaska.
