Rashard Brown, Crack Distribution, Virginia 2017

RICHMOND, Va. – A Windsor, Virginia man was sentenced to nine years in federal prison for distributing over 280 grams of crack cocaine, a highly addictive and potent form of cocaine, and for being in possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Rashard Brown, 33, pleaded guilty on July 13, 2017, to distributing between 280 and 840 grams of crack cocaine between October 2014 and January 2015. He was stopped by Hopewell Police officers on July 28, 2016, while driving a vehicle, and during a short chase on foot, Brown was caught with a stolen Glock 9mm luger semiautomatic pistol and a distribution quantity of crack cocaine.

The sentencing was announced by Dana J. Boente, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Adam S. Lee, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Richmond Field Office, after U.S. District Judge M. Hannah Lauck handed down the sentence. Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela Mastandrea-Miller prosecuted the case.

Brown was found to have distributed crack cocaine in the Windsor area, which is a small town in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. The investigation into Brown’s activities was a collaborative effort between the Hopewell Police Department and the FBI.

According to court documents, Brown admitted to distributing between 280 and 840 grams of crack cocaine between October 2014 and January 2015. This amount of crack cocaine is equivalent to thousands of individual doses, highlighting the severity of Brown’s crimes.
