Raymond Idemudia Aigbekaen, 29, of Amityville, New York, is headed to federal prison for 15 years after being convicted of sex trafficking a 16-year-old girl across state lines. On February 7, 2017, U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar handed down the sentence in Baltimore, Maryland, slamming Aigbekaen for his role in a brutal conspiracy that exploited a minor through prostitution in Maryland, Virginia, and New York. He will serve five years of supervised release upon completion of his prison term and must register as a sex offender under SORNA in every jurisdiction where he lives, works, or studies.
Aigbekaen and co-defendant Marcell Greene, 28, of Wyandanch, New York, ran a predatory operation from late February through April 12, 2015, forcing the teenage victim into commercial sex acts. The case unraveled when the girl made a desperate 911 call from a Bel Air, Maryland hotel. Responding officers with the Harford County Child Advocacy Center (HCCAC) found her trapped in a cycle of abuse, confirming she had been shuttled from New York by two men—one named Marcell, the other ‘Raymond,’ described as Nigerian. Ads promoting her for sex were tied directly to Aigbekaen’s email and phone number.
Digital and forensic evidence sealed Aigbekaen’s fate. Investigators recovered used condoms and tissues from hotel room trash during April 11–12, 2015. DNA analysis linked co-defendant Greene to the items, while Aigbekaen was identified as a potential contributor to biological stains found on the victim’s underwear. Hotel records confirmed Aigbekaen rented rooms in Maryland and Virginia multiple times, including stays from March 30 to April 4, 2015, aligning with the victim’s exploitation.
Prostitution ads featuring the minor were traced to email accounts controlled by Aigbekaen, posted across Long Island, Maryland, and Virginia in early 2015. Photos of the victim used in the ads were recovered from his personal computer. Cell site data further placed Aigbekaen’s phone near the hotels where the victim was forced to perform commercial sex acts, establishing his presence and active involvement in the trafficking scheme.
Marcell Greene has already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and sex trafficking of a minor. He awaits sentencing on February 10, 2017, and remains in custody. Both men exploited the vulnerabilities of a child for profit and control, leaving behind trauma that won’t fade with a prison term.
The case was spearheaded by the Maryland Human Trafficking Task Force—a multi-agency coalition formed in 2007 to combat human trafficking through coordinated rescue and prosecution efforts. Partners include federal, state, and local law enforcement, victim service providers, and community stakeholders. U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein, ICE Homeland Security Investigations, FBI Baltimore, Harford County Sheriff’s Office, and Maryland State Police all played critical roles in bringing Aigbekaen to justice. He remains in federal custody with no chance of early release.
