CINCINNATI – In a shocking move, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Hamilton County Office of Reentry are teaming up to host a National Reentry Week Summit in the Queen City. The event, which takes place TOMORROW: APRIL 26, 2016, from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Great American Ball Park, aims to educate individuals with criminal backgrounds on how to reintegrate into society.

Representatives from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, federal and local governmental agencies, politicians, employers, and service providers will be in attendance to provide information on various topics, including what employers are looking for and how to find work with a criminal record, knowing your rights after reentry, financial responsibility, child support, and parenting.

Speaking at the summit will be Acting U.S. Attorney Benjamin C. Glassman, Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley, and Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune, among others. Mike Davis, Administrator of the Office of Reentry, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, will also be in attendance.

According to sources, the summit will cover the following topics:

  • What employers are looking for and how to find work with a criminal record
  • Knowing your rights after reentry
  • Financial responsibility
  • Child support and parenting

The event is free and open to the public, with room available beginning at 9:00 A.M. However, attendees are warned that TV lighting and multbox will not be allowed.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office is urging individuals with criminal backgrounds to take advantage of this opportunity to learn how to reintegrate into society and avoid falling victim to reentry scams.
