REHOBOTH, MA – Christopher Mota, 29, is cooling his heels in federal custody after being busted for allegedly trafficking in child sexual abuse material and exploiting multiple minor girls. Federal agents arrested Mota this morning in Rehoboth, facing four counts of sexual exploitation of children.
The case cracked open last month when Customs and Border Protection officers were prepping Mota for a flight to Aruba out of Logan Airport. A routine luggage check turned up an iPhone 16 Pro Max packed with hidden folders containing what authorities are calling disturbing CSAM. The phone was seized and quickly revealed a digital trove of abuse.
During questioning, Mota allegedly confessed to collecting CSAM from girls as young as 12, admitting to receiving material through Snapchat, text messaging, and Telegram. He estimated he’d received images and videos from “20 to 25” minor girls, stating bluntly, “it’s a lot,” and admitting to “probably hundreds” of files. Forensic analysis of the phone confirmed explicit communications and exchanges with at least four identified victims.
If convicted, Mota is looking at a mandatory minimum of 15 years behind bars, with a potential sentence of up to 30 years, plus supervised release and a hefty fine. The U.S. Attorney’s office for Massachusetts, along with Homeland Security Investigations, handled the investigation. CBP provided crucial support.
