Farmington Couple Sentenced for Violent Assault
ALBUQUERQUE – In a shocking turn of events, a Farmington man and his wife were sentenced for their role in a violent assault that left their victim unconscious.
Renauldo Sandoval, 40, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, slammed Jane Doe into a wall and strangled her, causing her to fall to the ground and lose consciousness. His wife, Lisa Sandoval, 39, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, then pinned Jane Doe to the ground.
The incident occurred on July 28, 2023, during an argument. According to court records, Renauldo Sandoval’s actions resulted in Jane Doe suffering significant harm.
Renauldo Sandoval was sentenced to 46 months in prison, while his wife, Lisa Sandoval, received five years of probation. Upon his release from prison, Renauldo Sandoval will be subject to three years of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Farmington Resident Agency, with assistance from the Navajo Nation Police Department and the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Meg Tomlinson is prosecuting the case.
Acting U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Justin A. Garris, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, made the announcement today.
The sentencing of Renauldo Sandoval and Lisa Sandoval serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of violent behavior. The victim, Jane Doe, is lucky to have escaped with her life, and it’s a miracle she did not suffer more severe injuries.
