BEAUMONT, Texas – A 57-year-old Rialto, CA woman has been locked up for her role in a Port Arthur drug trafficking ring. Angie Dang was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
The sentence comes after law enforcement spotted Dang conducting a drug transaction in the parking lot of her Texas apartment complex in March 2014. During a subsequent traffic stop, police discovered over 14 grams of crack cocaine and $2,550 cash on her person. Additional drugs were found in her vehicle and at her home.
In court, it was revealed that a cookie of crack cocaine and 25 one-ounce bags of powder cocaine totaling 663.925 grams were recovered from Dang’s residence, along with $97,700 in cash. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Port Arthur Police Department conducted the investigation, which led to the May 14, 2014, indictment against Dang.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert L. Rawls prosecuted the case, ensuring that justice was served for the community affected by drug trafficking activities. This sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who engage in illegal drug activities within our borders.
The sentencing of Angie Dang serves as a testament to the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies like the DEA and local police departments in their fight against drug trafficking. The community can take comfort in knowing that justice has been served for those who seek to profit from the sale of illegal substances.
