Grimy Times has learned that a previously convicted felon has pleaded guilty to being in possession of a firearm and ammunition in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Richard ‘Sky’ Kuykendall, 42, of Albuquerque, has admitted to possessing a Beretta 9mm pistol after a gun fight in the city on May 12, 2021.
Kuykendall, a native of Gloucester, Massachusetts, has a lengthy criminal history that includes convictions for larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny, receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle, unlawful taking of a vehicle, forgery, and identity theft.
As a previously convicted felon, Kuykendall is prohibited from legally possessing a firearm or ammunition.
The FBI investigated the case with assistance from the Albuquerque Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Paul Mysliwiec and Samuel Hurtado are prosecuting the case.
Kuykendall will remain in custody pending sentencing, which has not been scheduled. By the terms of the plea agreement, he faces 18 months in prison.
The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat gun violence in New Mexico and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions.
