Newark, N.J. – Ringwood, New Jersey’s Mariusz Cebula, 36, received a two-year sentence today for his illegal possession of machineguns, announced U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.
Cebula, who had previously pleaded guilty to one count of possessing five machineguns, also agreed to forfeit an additional 12 machineguns and parts, along with 10 other firearms, all obtained through unlicensed purchases at gun shows and online.
According to court documents, the five machineguns were fully operational as automatic weapons. The ATF reports that Ringwood, New Jersey, ranked sixth in guns seized in 2015, with approximately 80 of the 93 recovered guns from Cebula’s residence.
In addition to his prison term, Judge Susan D. Wigenton sentenced Cebula to three years of supervised release. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sammi Malek represented the government, while Miles Feinstein Esq. defended Cebula.
U.S. Attorney Fishman commended the ATF and Ringwood Police Department for their role in the investigation, as well as the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office for its contribution to the case.
