Rizaldy Panganiban, a 32-year-old resident of Los Angeles, California, was charged with multiple federal crimes following a brutal attack on a convenience store clerk in January 2021.

On February 17, 2021, Panganiban was formally charged with one count of attempted murder, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. The charges stem from a violent altercation at a 7-Eleven store in downtown Los Angeles on January 10, 2021.

According to court documents, Panganiban entered the convenience store, allegedly intoxicated, and became involved in a confrontation with the clerk. During the altercation, Panganiban allegedly pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the clerk, but was thwarted by a bystander who intervened.

The case was heard in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, specifically in the Los Angeles branch. After a lengthy trial, Panganiban was found guilty on all counts. On August 15, 2022, he was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
