Marcus Reavenell, 48, of Washington, D.C., went on a road rage frenzy on May 14, 2025, in Northeast DC, tailgating a victim, driving erratically, and eventually firing a pistol at the victim’s work vehicle. The shooting occurred at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Division Avenue NE. Reavenell’s motive behind the attack is unclear, but his actions led to a conviction on multiple charges. He was found guilty on July 27, 2026.
Reavenell’s rampage began when he attempted to cut off the victim in traffic. He then followed the victim, driving aggressively, until he pulled out a pistol and fired at the victim’s vehicle, striking its rear door. Reavenell fled the scene in his van but was arrested on July 9, 2025, and has been in custody since.
The conviction includes charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and reckless driving. The possession of a firearm during a crime of violence conviction carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years imprisonment. Sentencing is scheduled for October 2, 2026, before Superior Court Judge Errol Arthur.
The case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Randle Wilson and Kadian Carter. Chief Jeffery Carroll of the MPD joined the announcement of Reavenell’s conviction.
