CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Roane County’s Chadrick Rogers, 40, has been sentenced to federal prison after violating his supervised release by committing a drug crime. United States Attorney Carol Casto announced that Rogers was sentenced to three years and 10 months for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, with an additional two and a half years tacked on for violating his supervised release – sentences that will run consecutively.
Rogers’ trouble began on October 2, 2016, when he fled from law enforcement. During the pursuit, Rogers struck a Deputy Marshal with his motorcycle. He was apprehended and found in possession of approximately 33 grams of methamphetamine and over $3,800 in cash. Rogers confessed to his intent to distribute the drugs in Kanawha County.
Today’s hearing saw the sentence increased due to the reckless flight that posed a risk of death or serious injury. The investigation was led by the United States Marshal Service and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Timothy D. Boggess handling the prosecution. United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr., imposed the sentence.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia is actively combating illegal drug sales and misuse as part of an ongoing effort.
