Albuquerque Man Faces Prison Time for Felonious Firearm Possession

Robert Alderete, 32, of Albuquerque, was sentenced in federal court in Albuquerque on February 18 to three years and eight months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The arrest came after a reckless driving incident in Albuquerque on December 4, 2019.

During the search of Alderete’s vehicle, a deputy discovered a semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine and anxiety pills.

Alderete will face three years of supervised release upon completion of his prison sentence.

The FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jaymie L. Roybal prosecuted the case.
