A Colorado funeral home owner has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to embezzling funds from the deceased.
Robert Baca, the owner of Mountain View Funeral Home in Pueblo, Colorado, was sentenced on March 22, 2024 after pleading guilty to multiple counts of theft and embezzlement.
According to court records, Baca embezzled over $1 million from the funeral home between 2017 and 2022, using the funds for personal expenses and to pay off debts.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and Baca’s guilty plea was accepted by the court in exchange for the 20-year prison sentence.
