PITTSBURGH – Robert Stiver, a 42-year-old Floridian, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of violating federal robbery laws.
According to the indictment, on November 2, 2016, Stiver used a firearm to rob the Allegheny Valley Bank in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, of $2,063 and the First Commonwealth in Harmarville, Pennsylvania, of $5,372.
The indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury, contains four counts of armed robbery. The law provides for a maximum sentence of not more than 25 years in prison, a fine of not more than $250,000, or both for each armed robbery count.
Assistant United States Attorney Timothy M. Lanni is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Shaler Township Police Department, and the Harmar Township Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.
An indictment is an accusation, and Stiver is presumed innocent until proven guilty. His trial date has not been set.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between the FBI, the Shaler Township Police Department, and the Harmar Township Police Department.
