Grimy Times has learned that Robert Twiss, a 58-year-old man from Earlton, New York, has been charged with unlawfully possessing a rifle.
The criminal complaint alleges that Twiss, a convicted felon, possessed a Plainfield M-1 rifle on October 24, 2016, at his Greene County residence.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the charge in the complaint is merely an accusation, and Twiss is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Twiss appeared in federal court in Albany today before United States Magistrate Judge Christian F. Hummel and was ordered detained pending trial.
If convicted, Twiss faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of up to 3 years.
The case is being investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Belliss.
