Roberto Segura Jr., Trafficking with Firearm, Texas 2024

McAllen, Texas – A local resident has been put behind bars for using a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking activity. Roberto Segura Jr., 28, of Donna, Texas, pleaded guilty on October 1, 2024, for his role in the crime.

On July 24, 2024, authorities conducted a search warrant at Segura’s residence, where they discovered marijuana, over 400 grams of cocaine, and body armor within the home. A firearm was also found in Segura’s bedroom next to the body armor. Segura admitted that he was in possession of the firearm to protect himself during his drug trafficking activity.

Segura will serve 60 months in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, as ordered by U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton. Segura will remain in custody pending transfer to a Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Alamo Police Department conducted the joint investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cahal P. McColgan prosecuted the case as part of the joint federal, state, and local Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program.
