A Nampa man has been sentenced to prison for failing to pay millions in employee taxes. Roberto Trevizo Corral, the president of AG Services Inc., also known as Corral Agriculture Inc., was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison and ordered to pay $771,252.11 in restitution.
According to court documents, Corral knowingly failed to collect and pay over to the IRS the withheld income taxes and Social Security taxes owed by his company and its employees from 2004 to January 31, 2005.
Corral admitted to being responsible for paying all of the required employer payroll taxes, including the portion of the FICA tax owed by AG/Corral for the calendar years 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. He also admitted to not paying more than $700,000 in employee payroll taxes.
The case was investigated by special agents with the IRS, who worked tirelessly to bring Corral to justice. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho also played a crucial role in securing the conviction.
The sentence was handed down on an undisclosed date, although the press release mentioned no specific date. Corral’s company, AG Services Inc., supplied agricultural labor to farmers in the area.
The IRS praised the efforts of the special agents who worked on the case, as well as the litigators from the Tax Division who prosecuted the case. The agency also thanked the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boise, Idaho, for their support in the matter.
