Cameron Fox, Child Pornography Distribution, California 2024

Cameron Fox, a 35-year-old man from Rocklin, California, pleaded guilty today to distributing child pornography, marking the latest conviction in a relentless federal crackdown on online child sexual exploitation.

According to court documents, Fox initiated contact with a minor over the internet with the intent to meet for sexual purposes. After meeting the victim in person, he escalated the crime by sending her child pornography—acts that have now triggered federal charges and a guaranteed prison sentence.

The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, highlighting the coordinated law enforcement response to digital predator activity. Evidence gathered during the probe left no room for dispute, leading to Fox’s swift guilty plea in U.S. District Court.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Rosanne Rust is prosecuting the case, which will culminate in sentencing on August 1 before U.S. District Judge Morrison C. England Jr. Fox faces a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

While those are the upper limits under federal law, the actual sentence will be determined by the court after weighing statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which consider the severity of the offense, prior history, and other judicial variables.

This case was pursued under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation. Through collaboration between federal, state, and local agencies, the program aims to identify, rescue, and protect child victims while putting predators behind bars.
