Rodney Harris Sentenced in Cocaine, Heroin Conspiracy

Rodney Harris, 45, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, is headed to federal prison for his role in a years-long narcotics conspiracy that flooded communities with cocaine and heroin. Harris was sentenced to 70 months in federal custody, followed by four years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute multiple kilograms of controlled substances.

The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge David S. Cercone in Pittsburgh federal court. Harris admitted to participating in a sprawling drug network that operated from January 2010 through June 2015, during which time he and co-conspirators moved more than five but less than 15 kilograms of cocaine, and more than one but less than three kilograms of heroin across the region.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Heidi M. Grogan and Troy Rivetti, who built a case rooted in federal narcotics statutes designed to dismantle organized drug operations. Harris’s conviction marks a key victory in an investigation that exposed the deep infrastructure of a regional distribution ring tied to larger criminal networks.

The probe was spearheaded by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and involved a coordinated effort among multiple agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Fayette County Drug Task Force, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the United States Postal Inspection Service. Their joint work dismantled a pipeline that had poisoned neighborhoods for half a decade.

Funding for the investigation came through the federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Program (OCDETF), which channels resources to high-impact operations targeting interstate and international drug trafficking. The program’s support enabled long-term surveillance, wiretaps, and evidence collection critical to securing the conviction.

“This sentence sends a clear message: those who profit from addiction and violence will face serious consequences,” said United States Attorney Scott W. Brady. “Harris helped fuel a crisis that devastated families. Today, justice has been served.”
