Rodrigo Villanueva-Yanez, a 40-year-old citizen of Mexico, has been sentenced to serve 4 months in prison for illegally re-entering the United States. Villanueva-Yanez was previously deported in 2011 from the Port of Entry in Hidalgo, Texas.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Villanueva-Yanez later re-entered the country without permission and was found in Watertown, New York, at the time of his arrest. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced in Syracuse, New York.
The case was investigated by the United States Border Patrol, Wellesley Island Station, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert S. Levine.

Following his prison sentence, Villanueva-Yanez will be transferred to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security, which will place him into removal proceedings.
