Ryan Deshaun Edd Sentenced

Ryan Deshaun Edd, 37, of Sherman, Texas, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy. Edd pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 240 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant, III, on July 30, 2025.

According to information presented in court, Edd was involved in trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine in the Grayson County area. In November 2022, law enforcement received a tip that Edd was trafficking methamphetamine, leading to a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 75 in Sherman. During the stop, Edd was found to be a backseat passenger in a vehicle driven by Zacheriah Alexander, of Denison.

A search of the vehicle revealed a large plastic bag containing 1.22 kilograms of methamphetamine and a loaded revolver. Further investigation revealed that Alexander had been working with Edd to sell methamphetamine for approximately six months before being arrested. Alexander was previously sentenced by Judge Mazzant to 135 months in federal prison for his role in the offense.

Edd will begin serving his federal prison sentence after he completes a 45-year state sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon committed in Sherman in January of 2023. The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sherman Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Johnson prosecuted the case.

The sentence handed down to Edd is a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against methamphetamine trafficking in the Eastern District of Texas. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking organizations operating in the region.

Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced the sentence, praising the work of the law enforcement agencies involved in the case. The investigation and prosecution of Edd demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement to holding accountable those who engage in drug trafficking and other serious crimes.

The case against Edd serves as a reminder of the dangers of methamphetamine trafficking and the importance of continued efforts to combat this threat. The sentence of 20 years in federal prison reflects the seriousness of the offense and the need to protect the public from the harm caused by drug trafficking.
