Ryan Deshaun Edd, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Texas 2022

GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas – In a hard-fought victory for law enforcement, Ryan Deshaun Edd, 37, has been handed a 20-year federal prison sentence for his role in the methamphetamine trafficking underworld. The grim announcement came from Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

Edd’s criminal activities reached their pinnacle on November 16, 2022, when his vehicle was flagged down by law enforcement on U.S. Highway 75. Inside the car, police uncovered a chilling cache: 1.22 kilograms of methamphetamine and a loaded revolver. The Grayson County area had been under siege.

The co-conspirator driving the getaway vehicle, Zacheriah Alexander, was sentenced to 135 months for his part in the drug ring. Alexander, from Denison, had been working with Edd for about six months before being apprehended. His collaboration with Edd extended beyond drugs – Alexander faced an additional charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Edd’s sentence will commence after he serves a 45-year state sentence for the violent crime he committed in Sherman back in January 2023. U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant, III, imposed the stiff sentence on July 30, 2025.

This operation was a joint effort by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sherman Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Johnson led the prosecution.

For Edd, this is not just another day in prison; it’s a life sentence to the nation’s federal penitentiary for his role in the methamphetamine epidemic that plagues our communities. The people of Grayson County can breathe a little easier knowing justice has been served.
