Jose Luis Aguilar Saucedo, a 26-year-old Sacramento resident, was locked up for seven years and six months on Monday for his role in a ruthless fentanyl pill operation. Aguilar Saucedo was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dale A. Drozd, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Kimberly A. Sanchez.
The court records reveal that Aguilar Saucedo sold hundreds of fentanyl tablets designed to mimic prescription ‘M-30’ oxycodone pills. He peddled his deadly wares to a DEA confidential source on three separate occasions in 2020, leading to his downfall.
With fifteen co-defendants having already taken the fall, eleven have been locked away for sentences ranging from 19 months to 27 years. Luis Lopez Zamora, Leonardo Flores Beltran, Sandro Escobedo, and Erika Gabriela Zamora Rojo are all set to face their fates in 2025.
This operation was the result of a massive investigation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with support from numerous federal and local law enforcement agencies. The Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs played a pivotal role in securing the extradition of Lopez Zamora from Mexico.
Assistant U.S. Attorney David W. Spencer is the lead prosecutor on this case, which falls under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF). OCDETF specializes in dismantling high-level criminal organizations and has been instrumental in bringing down Aguilar Saucedo’s operation.
