CLEVELAND – A brazen crime has shaken the streets of Ohio as Sadai Lopez, a 38-year-old man from Goodyear, Arizona, pleaded guilty to his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy. The illicit operation involved transporting fentanyl pills from Arizona to North Carolina, with a crucial stop in Ohio.
According to court documents, Lopez was engaged in trafficking illegal narcotics from August 2023 to November 2024. The investigation revealed that he used U.S. Postal Service offices throughout the Phoenix area to mail six parcels to an accomplice in Newton Falls, Ohio. A search warrant on one of the parcels uncovered 1.150 kilograms of fentanyl pills contained inside two vacuum-sealed bags.
Lopez’s guilty plea comes as a significant blow to the illicit fentanyl trade in the region. The prosecution is being led by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin E. Bringman for the Northern District of Ohio. The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Service Inspection Service.
