A 30-year-old Morgantown resident has been sentenced to over six years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Samad Madir Harvey, also known as ‘Wes,’ was convicted by a Clarksburg jury on April 18, 2013, for the crime.
A Clarksburg jury found Harvey guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Morgantown Police Department.
Harvey was sentenced to 77 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. He is currently in the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley.
According to court documents, on April 18, 2013, a Clarksburg jury found Harvey guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Harvey was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.
This case is a reminder of the serious consequences of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Morgantown Police Department worked together to bring this case to justice.
