Crime Boss Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison
BOSTON, Massachusetts – In a shocking turn of events, Samuel Jean, a 23-year-old man from Everett, was sentenced to two years in prison for dealing firearms without a license.
On four occasions between August 29, 2016, and October 3, 2016, Jean delivered firearms and ammunition to an accomplice, Jeffrey Joseph, who in turn sold the weapons to an individual cooperating with the government. All of the transactions took place in and around the Bunker Hill Housing Development in Charlestown.
A total of seven firearms were supplied by Jean for sale to the cooperating witness, including two firearms previously reported as stolen.
Samuel Jean, 23, pleaded guilty to the charges on March 2, 2017. He was sentenced by U.S. District Court Senior Judge Rya W. Zobel to two years in prison and three years of supervised release.
Jeffrey Joseph, Jean’s accomplice, has pleaded not guilty to federal firearms charges and is awaiting trial.
The investigation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori J. Holik, Chief of the Major Crimes Unit, prosecuted the case.
This case serves as a reminder of the dangers of dealing firearms without a license and the consequences of such actions. As a society, we must take steps to prevent the proliferation of illegal firearms and keep our communities safe.
