BOSTON – In a move to protect the citizens of Massachusetts, U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni handed down a 10-year prison sentence to 60-year-old Sandisfield resident Brian Hohman, who was convicted of two serious charges: possession of child pornography and receipt and possession of an unregistered firearm.
Hohman’s downfall began in September 2023 when authorities conducted a search of his residence. What they found was a sawed-off shotgun not registered to Hohman, a laptop containing over 300 visually unique images, including at least two videos depicting child pornography, and two cell phones and a SIM card containing child pornography.
As a result of this disturbing discovery, Hohman was subsequently arrested and detained on an unrelated matter. The investigation, which included valuable assistance from the Massachusetts State Police and the Litchfield Judicial District State’s Attorney’s Office in Connecticut, revealed the extent of Hohman’s illicit activities.
Hohman pleaded guilty in January 2024 to one charge of possession of child pornography and one charge of receipt and possession of an unregistered firearm. This plea deal ensured that justice would be served quickly and efficiently.
Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England, made the announcement today, highlighting the importance of this case in the fight against child exploitation.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. As part of this initiative, the Department of Justice marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.
