Logansport Man Sentenced to Prison
A 27-year-old man from Logansport, Indiana, has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for possessing an unregistered sawed-off shotgun. Sean Beebout, 27, of Logansport, Indiana, was handed down the sentence by United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty after pleading guilty to the federal offense.
According to the evidence presented in court, investigators with the Law Enforcement Division of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources discovered Beebout was hunting deer without a license. A search warrant at his residence revealed a stash of five firearms, including two sawed-off shotguns, crossbows, a firearm suppressor, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Beebout’s history of felony convictions came back to haunt him, as he committed this federal offense while on bond for another felony offense. His three prior felony convictions are a stark warning to those who think they can skirt the law.
This case is a prime example of law enforcement working together to keep our communities safe. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives led the investigation, assisted by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Law Enforcement.
Assistant United States Attorneys Kimberly L. Schultz and Jerome W. McKeever prosecuted the case, ensuring Beebout faced the full weight of the law. This sentence sends a clear message that those who break the law will be held accountable.
Beebout will serve 70 months in prison, followed by 2 years of supervised release. His sentence serves as a reminder that the consequences of breaking the law can be severe and long-lasting.
