Meth Trafficking Lands Alice Man Behind Bars

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A sinister plot to smuggle methamphetamine from Mexico into Alice, Texas, has left a 35-year-old man facing the harsh reality of federal prison. Scott Garza, a resident of Alice, was found guilty of knowingly and intentionally possessing meth with the intent to distribute it.

U.S. District Judge David S. Morales has sentenced Garza to serve 265 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. The court heard evidence about the abandoned, boarded-up house where the box of drugs was delivered and the firearm Garza had in his possession at the time.

According to investigators, an international package shipped from Mexico was identified on August 7, 2025, and destined for an address in Alice. An X-ray examination and K-9 alert revealed 10 clay bricks containing meth mixed within the clay material. The drugs had a total weight of nearly eight kilograms with an estimated street value of $160,000.

Garza was found to have travelled to the abandoned house to pick up the package, which he later opened at his home. The investigation led to the discovery of additional narcotics, including distributable quantities of cocaine, meth, Xanax tablets, marijuana, and synthetic marijuana, as well as three firearms at his residence.

Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office collaborated on the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley A. Pruitt prosecuting the case.

As Garza begins his federal prison sentence, he will remain in custody pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future. Judge Morales noted that although Garza may have been a low-level dealer before this offense, he graduated to the next level by participating in this crime.

Scott Garza’s case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of methamphetamine trafficking and the consequences of involvement in such illicit activities.
