Baltimore, MD – In a bid to curb gun violence, a Baltimore man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for a firearms violation.
Sedrick Sutton, 35, was sentenced on September 17, 2021, by U.S. District Judge Ellen L. Hollander for being in possession of a stolen firearm.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, Sutton was identified as an individual present at an altercation captured on a city watch camera on September 17, 2021. At the time of the altercation, Sutton possessed a handgun in his waistband.
Officers arrived at the scene and located Sutton, recovering a loaded handgun from his waistband.
Sutton’s case is part of the Project Safe Neighborhood Gun Violence Reduction Program, which aims to reduce gun violence in Baltimore.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland has been working to address gun violence and the trafficking of fentanyl in the city.
