Seven Busted in Central Texas Meth Ring,

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Federal, state, and local law enforcement have cracked down on a methamphetamine distribution ring operating throughout Central Texas. Today’s operation led to the arrest of seven individuals in McLennan, Bell, and Coryell counties.

The suspects, including Rodney Macpherson (aka “Todd”) and Anna Ruetz (aka “Dani”), were charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Authorities have linked this ring to Gabriel Flores-Benitez, who authorities claim has been at the helm of large-scale meth sales in Central Texas since May 2019.

So far, the investigation has yielded approximately two kilograms of meth and three firearms. DEA Special Agent in Charge Steven S. Whipple praised the collaborative efforts of law enforcement, noting that such operations are key to keeping communities safe.

Upon conviction, MacPherson faces a sentence ranging from ten years to life in federal prison. The other defendants could serve between five and 40 years. The investigation was conducted by multiple agencies, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, DEA, and local sheriff’s offices.

Those arrested are currently held in federal custody. Detention hearings are set for next week. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mark Frazier and Stephanie Smith-Burris will lead the prosecution.

The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
