Sex Offender Indicted on Child Porn Charges

A Norfolk federal grand jury has indicted Eduardo Bueno, 41, of Portsmouth, on charges of distribution and possession of child pornography.

Bueno, a registered sex offender, was identified by law enforcement authorities after a customer attempted to save images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct on their internet cloud account.

According to the indictment and other court documents, Homeland Security Investigations and the Portsmouth Police Department further investigated Bueno and found that he is a registered sex offender who was previously convicted of child sexual abuse in Massachusetts.

Bueno initially was arrested on January 5, 2016, pursuant to a criminal complaint and remains incarcerated pending trial.

He faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 5 years’ imprisonment and a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison on each count if convicted.

The sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the court based on the advisory Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Michael Lamonea of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations Norfolk Office announced the indictment.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations with the assistance of the Portsmouth Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth M. Yusi is prosecuting the case.
