Sacramento Man Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison for Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm

Shaun Jones, 29, of Sacramento, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.

On August 2022, Jones and an associate sold a Glock 17, 9 mm gun to an informant working with law enforcement. In September 2023, Jones sold a Glock 17, 9 mm gun with an extended magazine to the same informant. Jones is prohibited from possessing firearms because he has previously been convicted of robbery, drug possession, and attempted burglary.

According to court documents, Jones’ actions put the community at risk by allowing a convicted felon to possess and distribute firearms.

This case was the product of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Emily G. Sauvageau and Justin Lee prosecuted the case.
