A Sioux Falls man has been sentenced to seven years and three months in federal prison for prohibited possession of a firearm after he threatened and shot at a neighbor and the neighbor’s six-year-old child.
Uver Revolorio-Hernandez, 50, was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund as part of his sentence. He was also sentenced to three years of supervised release after his prison term.
The 50-year-old man was convicted of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person after a federal grand jury indicted him in September 2023. Revolorio-Hernandez pleaded guilty to the charge on January 23, 2024.
The charges stem from a July 31, 2023, incident in which Revolorio-Hernandez threatened and shot at a neighbor and the neighbor’s six-year-old child. During the incident, he fired four shots from his vehicle while driving away from the scene.
Law enforcement located two spent 9mm shell casings outside of the victim’s residence and one bullet that had penetrated three walls of the home. When officers encountered Revolorio-Hernandez in his vehicle, he was intoxicated and in possession of a loaded Hi-Point 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number and two spent 9mm casings.
Revolorio-Hernandez is prohibited from possessing a firearm because he is an illegal alien and a convicted felon. He was convicted of Assault – 2nd Degree Dangerous Weapon (Felony) on March 17, 2008, in Scott County, Minnesota.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the centerpiece of the Department of Justice’s violent crime reduction efforts. The PSN program works with a broad spectrum of stakeholders to address the most pressing violent crime problems in the community.
Revolorio-Hernandez was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to continue serving his sentence. The case was investigated by the City of Sioux Falls Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Elizabeth Ebert prosecuted the case.
