Heroin flows through Dallas, as the latest player in the game receives a lengthy prison sentence. Sixto Rivera Bustillos, 44, of Garland, Texas, was sentenced to 135 months in federal prison for his role in a heroin distribution conspiracy.
The case against Bustillos unfolded on April 27, 2016, when he met with an individual in a McDonald’s restaurant bathroom in Garland. There, they exchanged one-half ounce of heroin for $820. This transaction was one of many that Bustillos was involved in, as part of a larger heroin distribution conspiracy.
Bustillos was charged along with six others, including Rene Rodriguez, Marcus Stokes, Daniel Rojo, Brittany Anders, Jancs Fraire, and Yovani Loyd Rodriguez. All seven defendants pleaded guilty to various offenses related to the conspiracy.
Rene Rodriguez, 31, of Dallas, was sentenced to 108 months. Marcus Stokes, 31, of Plano, received 70 months. Daniel Rojo, 32, of Allen, was sentenced to 60 months. Brittany Anders, 32, of Rowlett, was given 51 months. Jancs Fraire, 19, of Dallas, received 20 months, and Yovani Loyd Rodriguez, 23, of Dallas, was sentenced to 10 months.
Bustillos was arrested on June 2, 2016, when DEA agents went to his home with federal arrest warrants. During a search of the residence, agents seized a duffel bag containing marijuana, other controlled substances, and a firearm.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Allen Police Department, and Rockwall Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanna Etessam prosecuted the case.
Bustillos’ sentence brings closure to a case that exposed the dark underbelly of heroin distribution in the Dallas area. The lengthy prison term serves as a warning to those involved in similar activities.
